Fleur-de-Lis abdominoplasty surgery is a safe alternative to traditional abdominoplasty for the massive weight loss patient.
63 year old female who lost 142 lbs after gastric sleeve surgery. Patient had a small bowel obstruction and had required three laparoscopic surgeries. Patient had complications from bowel obstruction surgery and was left with severe scar. Patient wanted to reduce the excessive skin as well as the appearance of the scar.
Patient is complaining of discomfort and rash which is caused by the irritation and rubbing of the excess skin she has on her abdomen. Although she was able to lose the weight successfully, she still feels that she is heavy, and is having a hard time buying clothes that fit her correctly. Patient was in pain from the rashes and the rubbing from her excessive skin. She had history of using over the counter antibiotic creams and fungal creams for her rashes. Patient was a very good candidate for the fleur de lis abdominoplasty surgery. (Traditional abdominoplasty techniques often fail to adequately correct the complex contour deformities in the massive weight loss patient. To address these deformities, addition of a vertical skin resection to the traditional horizontal excision is used during surgery. The after photographs shown here are just two short months after surgery. Patient is extremely happy with her results and no longer complains of rashes due to excessive skin.
